BASEBALL: Fast No More
In a move that will be of interest only to the most hard-core devotees of the encylopedic trivia of baseball history, the Mad Hibernian has informed me that The Pitcher Formerly Known Only As Fast has been identified.
I’m sure there’s an interesting story here… what is it?
The Pitcher Formerly Known As Fast was just one of those many mysterious one-named players in the old Macmillan Baseball Encyclopedia. I always thought it was funny that a guy could lead the league in saves without anyone actually knowing his name. A different era of baseball…
In an internet full of obscure facts, this is the high point of the obscure fact year thus far. Kudos.
