BASEBALL: Ichiro On Fire
This is just amazing: Ichiro is now batting .481 (51/106) since the All-Star Break, and is running a career-best .398 OBP. Perhaps equally interesting is the persistence of a huge home-road split, especially as far as hitting for power: .367/.473/.407 on the road, compared to .344/.394/389 at SafeCo.
The Mariner's have a promotion with Safeway. If any Mariner gets four hits in a game, some fan wins free groceries for a year.
Ichiro has cost Safeway free groceries four times since the All-Star break, with two five-hit games and back-to-back four hit games in mid July. He's had six more three-hit games as well. He's also only had two games where he went oh-fer, and both of those games he got walks, so he's reached base in every game game he's played since the break.

Oh, and I just had a multi-hit game there myself. Ooops, sorry about that...
