POLITICS: Sabotage
Does Bush pay Kerry for pictures like this? Comments
Yeah, that boat's gotta be a good ten... twelve feet long! I understand having fun with this stuff on a righty site (much as another mountain-bike tumble would get play on the other side), but this whole "elite" thing is pretty tired. I'll be disappointed to see a mainstream play of this crap considering that all four major candidates a millionaires many times over. All that said, Kerry does himself no favors and ought to just stay off yachts and ski slopes for the duration of the campaign. Posted by: Mr Furious at September 3, 2004 10:23 AMIt's not just the boat, it's the outfit, the expression . . . I mean, the guy makes GHWB look like reg'ler folks by comparison. If Kerry had a different persona on the stump, that wouldn't matter, of course. But if I were a Dem I'd be tearing my hair out at pictures like this. Posted by: The Crank at September 3, 2004 10:31 AMAlmost everywhere Kerry goes he seems to be getting photographed with all these different toys and hobbies. windsurfing, kitesurfing, $6000 road bikes with pretty matching outfits, boating on Nantucket, skiing, snow-boarding, playing catch on a tarmac with a baseball or football in front of his private jet, and etc. does he really think this appeals to the common man? He looks more like a panderer and an arrogant rich snob who is trying to show off what a man's man he is. Posted by: Mike at September 3, 2004 11:23 AMA few weeks back both candidates visited high school football practices- on the same day. In the Bush photo-op, the President was playing catch with a kid who was clearly the team's QB, with the rest of the guys in a big circle around them, clearly in awe of the man. In the Kerry photo-op, the Senator was playing catch with a kid who was clearly one of the team's linemen, with the rest of the team continuing practice behind them, as if it wasn’t important enough to interrupt pre-season practice for even a minute. It's a small thing, but just like this boat photo, it makes you wonder: "where the hell are Kerry's handlers?" Posted by: Richard at September 3, 2004 1:49 PMAs long as everyone's focused on what's really important... Posted by: Mr Furious at September 3, 2004 3:59 PMThurston and Lovey wave good-bye to their chances of moving into the White House, and prepare to cast themselves into the briny deeps... Posted by: Tom Maguire at September 3, 2004 6:49 PMMr. Furious- When you're trying to win elections public perception is what's important. I would love it if everybody cast their vote after researching the positions of the various candidates, but unfortunately about half the nation hasn’t gotten that memo. Posted by: Richard at September 3, 2004 9:43 PMIf elected Kerry will be the richest man ever to serve as President - by a huge margin. Posted by: Pat Hobby at September 3, 2004 10:39 PM
