POLITICS: Shorter John Kerry Foreign Policy

"[T]he United States of America never goes to war because we want to, we only go to war because we have to."

But the French and the Germans, well, they'd go to war if we asked them nicely.

It’s also interesting of Kerry to denounce the nations who went along with the U.S. voluntarily in Iraq as a “coalition of the coerced and the bribed” while simultaneously lamenting the non-participation of those unwilling nations that actually would have demanded large concessions and incentives to assist us (assuming they would have under any circumstances).

What exactly would a President Kerry have conceded in order to secure indispensable French military support? Kyoto? The ICC? A mandatory 35-hour U.S. work week?

It’s a legitimate question that he should have to answer.

France, of course, would've required contracts at least equal in value to those it had with Saddam.

Or perhaps Halliburton could've been "annexed" by France. A lefty's dream: Cheney returns to the private sector and Chirac is his boss.

Discussion of Germany is pointless as its miltary couls make no serious contribution. What about Canada? We'll agree to let a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup-a rarity nowdays.
