POLITICS: Is It Ever Enough?

Ricky West reminds us, graphically, that a major focus of George W. Bush's budget-busting spending increases compared to Clinton has been in education spending, an area where he's been criticized relentlessly for not spending enough.

If you'll note in the comments of that post (thx for the link!) that I've already gotten the "but they're spending it in the wrong areas of education" responses, which are as predictable as the sun rising.

To answer the question of your title: It will never be enough and will only be "okay" when a Democrat is in charge.

I guess the red part of the graph was enough. Or the fault of Congressional Republicans. Or something.

Frankly, I'm fine with more education spending if coupled with meaningful reforms, including school choice. No Child Left Behind was a start in that direction, but depended too much on standards enforced by the government rather than the consumer for my taste.
