POLITICS: Oh, That Liberal Media

A classic of the genre. Via Kaus. (BTW, what keeps happening to Mickey's permalinks? They're like Brigadoon).

I guess, for conservatives, the phrase "liberal media" is like continually calling the Mets "the Amazins" or calling the Stones the "World's greatest rock and roll band." Just say it enough and it becomes the truth. The media is liberal only to radical rightists. Highlighting a mistake here or there may support your position, but that does not override the larger picture: the media kisses the ass of those in power and is afraid to take on the socio-economic forces that shape our society. See the link below. Why is the media not protesting the goverment's refusal to broadcast war images?

I think Greyhawk has a good response to that.

Do you feel the same way about the media's disinterest in showing the victims of abortion?

Abortion. How pathetic to try and bring it back to that old saw. Let's see: No broadcasting of actual dead grown individuals somehow equates to a medical procedure that in the VAST, VAST majority of cases removes a bunch of cells. Sure, that's pretty much the same thing. If it is you should be against a war that has killed thousands of Americans and an untold (oh right, they are not reporting that either) number of Iraqis et al.
