BASEBALL: You Know You're Having A Bad Year When . . .

I see that Rocco Baldelli, who is almost recovered from a torn ACL, will now miss the rest of the season with Tommy John surgery. (I guess the $5 I gambled on Baldelli in my Rotisserie draft is now officially wasted).

Try $42 for one Nomar Garciaparra.

No thanks.

Couple that wasted money along with my pre-draft "this year, the Cleveland Indians will have a great offense" strategy and there's no wonder why my hitting is anemic.

My bargain basement steals of Halladay and Colon on the pitching side almost make up for it. {checking the standings} No, it doesn't make up for it.

Still a long way - and many blockbuster trades - to go.

My two lucky picks in consecutive years: Ichiro Suzuki with 11 bucks, becomes AL batting champ; Dontrelle Willis with 14 bucks, first to 11 wins.

I wish I could say it was skill.

Hey at least you only paid 5 bucks for Baldelli. I paid 35.00 for Todd Helton to be a cornerstone of my offense. Hello 6th place.

I think Helton's been hampered by the back problems that he had last year. Once the Rockies get rid of Preston Wilson (whom I own...come on, Nats!) he'll have absolutely no one to protect him in that lineup.

He may struggle to get to 20 homers.
