BLOG: Tanks For Nuthin'
Ken Arneson spots an unusual road sign in Denmark. The comments are pretty funny.
No tanks, I'm not interested in any Danish humor.
When I was in the Army in Germany, before we defeated the Russkies, German roads and bridges were rated as to whether or not they were capable of supporting tanks (60 + tons.) I'm guessing the Danish sign is just a relic from those times. However, Denmark can be excused for not wanting tanks visiting from the south.
This is the same sign the French posted at the Maginot Line in 1940. Unfortunately for them, the Germans couldn't figure it out.
Did you ever see the old Michael Moore TV show in the 90s? He went to an old mothballed military base in Russia and outside the gate there was a stop sign that actually said STOP.
