BASEBALL: Pedro Is In The House

57 pitches through four innings. None of them put in play safely. If you catch my drift.

UPDATE: The Marlins eventually got to Pedro, but an encouraging outing nonetheless. He's getting there.

Since you seemingly never admit to being wrong, how about this one:

On July 25th you wrote, "Greg Maddux is done."

Since then...

66 2/3 innings, 5-3, 3.10 ERA (18th in baseball)

Geez, Pedro throwing in the low 80s, tops, is "encouraging"? I don't think so.

I'm somewhat encouraged by the action on his breaking pitches and the effectiveness of his changeup, but I'm very concerned about the lack of velocity (a good 5 MPH less than what he's normally capable of). He's still not pushing off his right foot, which tells me that he's still in significant pain. Here's to hoping he can overcome the pain when the games count, without causing any long-term damage.

Pedro needs to get it together. He is way off from his old self. The calf injury has put a stop to his year which is sad. He is a professional athlete he needs to be able to manage his body a calf injuury like that shouldnt happen. His outing was not encouraging it was average, he is way better than what he showed. Since he is over for the season, I think that since he is such a competitor he will overcome this injury, and come ack next year to have one of his best seasons yet. He is an amazing pitcher, and will be able to come back stronger next year.
