POLITICS: Rudy Gets It On Domestic Spending

One area where the GOP does need a clean break from the past 6 years:

Rudy Giuliani took a rare swipe at his Republican brethren in Congress yesterday, saying they had failed to rein in spending and lost votes in last fall's midterm elections as a result.
"We did not do a good job on spending, and we just have to say that to ourselves," the GOP presidential front-runner told a gathering of the Tuscaloosa County Republican Party.

"Our Republican Congress started to look more like a Democratic Congress where it came to spending, and I think that hurt us a lot last year," he added. "We need a President who knows how to cut spending. I am an expert at it. I did it in a place where it is harder to do than Washington, D.C. - New York City."

If the Times is correct, and Rudy is out of the closet re Abortion, then the only think that matters is will he run as an independent. Terrible advice to run, his history, ideology, skeletons, temperament, family, all strong negatives. If he's not careful he'll leave the race with his reputation in tatters.

Note: by history I mean the fact that he is a Dem at heart, as all electable NY "Republicans" are: Cuomo, guns, abortion, immigration...

Read "Grand Illusion," Wayne Barrett's recent book about Rudy's September 11 "heroics" and tell me that you support him for president.

Steve, that book is trash. I don't support him because he's not capable, and he is a Dem. Fast talking Bloomberg, with a temper. Also utterly unelectable, as I have pointed out here in the past. Your book reference is a joke. Monday morning QB work from a couple jerkoffs. NYC thrown into the fire, mistakes were made. No shit, grow up. Question, are you a Truther as well? Truther scum are the types that cite these novels as fact.

What is a "truther"? The book is more than just a few mistakes made in the heat of the moment. Have you read the book, or read book reviews of the book?

Wayne Barrett has an interesting article in the May 8 Village Voice detailing some curious sweetheart deals Mayor Giuliani made with the Yankees.Maybe abe could poke some holes in Barrett's novella.

At this point, the Democrats have a better reputation for budget restraint. Or at least Bill Clinton does. There's no doubt that the current deficit spending worked against the GOP in the last election. And they have noone else to blame.
