BASEBALL: The Lonliest Bomber
Through five innings tonight five Yankees have homered - and Mr. 499, Alex Rodriguez, isn't one of them.
UPDATE: Seven Yankees have now gone deep, including Matsui twice. No A-Rod, though.
Make it EIGHT other than A-Rod - even Shelly Duncan has joined in the fun.
Well, #500 will come. The Yanks tied a franchise record for most homeruns in a game set in 1939, if memory serves. Shelley Duncan was put in the game late, and he also homered. (He's at 3 this season in very limited play.)
Important from a Yankees perspective is that Farnsworth pitched an inning of perfect relief. This is a rarity and just might have required divine intervention.
