LAW: Little Black Book
Federal District Judge Gladys Kessler has lifted a temporary restraining order barring the "DC Madam," Deborah Jane Palfrey, from distributing copies of her list of telephone numbers, over objections by the prosecution. Presumably there will be some unhappy people in DC this afternoon.
What is ridiculous is that it takes 8 pages to say, "OK, you can publish."
Daryl: Judges worry about two things -- having to work hard and being reversed on appeal. For the former they hire law clerks. For the latter, they instruct those clerks to write eight page opinions saying "OK, you can publish."
