Are you serious with the headline? You are flat out making that up. In the story it says he made up his military record to get VA benefits (like that would have happened). There is no mention that he did this as some perverse "anti-war" tactic. He's just a sad, pathetic individual. For all you know he's a hard-core right-winger. For all the stuff you are putting up here about honesty you should try a little of it yourself.

Those people are horrible individuals, but the level of their words were neither as disastrous as the lies that got us into the war, or the bravado and more ("bring it on", farcical purple fingers for propaganda here at home) since.
Were their actions more, less, or equally as horrible as some of the actions that have occurred in this war - the ones outside of "normal" operations?

Was this a fraud by the Right to prop up support in our country? Since (as most people realized both then and now) - we had not reached a turning point.

Most likely Kos or Sheehan. I doubt he has heard of Trotsky. And he probably is in the crowd still upset about Hillary's vote on AUMF.

In all seriousness, this turd probably started out bragging about being in the military trying to get in some skanks pants. He obviously embellished his resume since getting kicked out of basic training for being a loser may not impress the ladies. When he told the crazy story about shooting people coming out of a mosque someone listening understood the propaganda potential and got him to repeat it on camera to spread on You-Tube. Not much different from Kerry's Winter Soldier friends where most of the folks making claims of atrocities had never been in country (some were never in the military).

Do atrocities happen in war? Sure, and don't think it only happened in Nam. People under stress have taken actions that to us sitting here in comfort is unquestionably abhorrent. However, anyone who seriously thinks it is commonplace or condoned by the upper echelon obviously has never served.

Regardless of Macbeth's intentions and they very well may have been some narcissistic fantasy or for financial gain the reality is that the left (Iraq Veterans Against the War and others on the left) used his fable to undermine the war effort. The headline is accurate.

Did they make a movie about it? Oh, right that was The Jessica Lynch GOP Fantasy Story. So hard to tell.
