*Poor cash management. Among other things.

*For the record, I approve of splitting the 7th Harry Potter film in two parts. There are too many good extended action sequences in the book that shouldn't be cut to the bone to fit a 2-hour film schedule.

*I have linked to this Bill James interview before, but I am very interested to hear that James, an avowed fan of crime stories, is finally working on a true-crimes book of his own.

*The saga of the investigation that held a cloud over South Korea's new president up to his inauguration makes for a fascinating tale.

*More Lego Escher creations here and here.

*Who Googled you?

This is a story of the type you usually run Crank. It seems a lawyer couple living in the Ansonia, an expensive place on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (Sheldon Silver territory) didn't like their neighbor smoking, and claimed the smell was harming their 4 year old, from the other apartment. Now I don't smoke, and I do find that sometimes courtesy doesn't work, but I wonder how they tried it out, when they were quoted this in a letter to their neighbor:

"In one of several letters threatening legal action, Mr. Selbin wrote to Ms. Huff: ‘’As you may not be aware, we are both lawyers and both litigators, for whom the usual barriers to litigation are minimal.'’

Does this sort of thing make you want to do something considered more honorable, like subprime mortgage lender?
