People who use bad analogies are just like child rapists.

β€œIn fact you could argue that, by our refusal to face the truth about climate change, we are as guilty as he is β€” we are in effect locking our children and grandchildren into a world with no future and throwing away the key,” he wrote in the letter entitled "following our dream," distributed around the Diocese of Lichfield.

Doesn't sound that far off to me - that is precisely what Exxon and others who intentionally sow false information about global warming are guilty of. Whether those who stand idle are equality as guilty is more difficult to say.

By the way, as you can see from the above quote, if you want to be accurate about it, the comparison was to the kidnapping and holding hostage- not the raping, as your title implies. Although one could certainly argue that the raping the Earth would similarly be apt.

Mark, I will be happy to buy in to the man-made global warming merry-go-round as soon as someone explains why all of the rest of the planets in our solar system are experiencing rising temperatures. Until that can be explained I will continue to call BS.

The science is far from settled re both warming and cause and effect. The models cited by those with no understanding of modeling are deeply flawed. And there's been zero discussion of the cost of the reformers' plans. No small factor in a slowing global economy. It is a yelling fire in the movie theater, incendiary statement that should not have been made.
Or in recognition of Mursell's tactic should I compare him to Goebbels?
