BASEBALL: We Built This Citi
NY Daily News has the latest photo tour of CitiField, plus pictures of Shea's slo-mo demolition and Jeff Wilpon looking silly in a hardhat.
It looks nice, but it's going to be a while before it looks to me like a place the Mets would play.

"Lawmakers Fight to Rename Ballpark After Citibank Bailout"

I guess some NY pols are a little miffed that Citibank isn't pulling out of the stadium sponsorship and want to rename it "Citi Taxpayer Field" or some other name.
The demolition of Shea is a lot more sad and depressing than I thought it would be.
MVH - Typical political grandstanding without logic. The naming rights are advertising. Stipulating that the company's advertising go out of it's way to remind potential customers that it was in need of a bailout seems counter-productive to it's recovery.
And I don't think Citigroup can renege on the naming rights deal unless it goes into bankruptcy, which also would not help it recover.
"Typical political grandstanding without logic."
Yup.
