BASEBALL: Bargain Angel
The Angels get Bobby Abreu for a reported one year and $5 million. I know Abreu is 35 and not the power threat he once was, but that's a steal. The Mets should have nabbed him at that price.
It gives them an interesting, very old and not very good outfield (Hunter I guess is still above average and Matthews is OK and Anderson is around OK). Their 5 primary outfielders (Abreu, Hunter, Vlad, Matthews and Anderson) are all between 33-37. I guess with a rotation that can sometimes include Figgins they have it covered but that is a lot of older dudes out there and there's only one DH spot.
Dunn signed for 2/20 with the Nats. The Mets should have nabbed him also (well, not both of them, just one of them).
jim - the Angels did not resign Anderson.
I don't think abreau is an upgrade at this point, but at least it's only one year.
