LAW: You Know Times Are Tough When....

...law firms start suing former associates who leave.

...law firms are called in to handle clients' disputes with Somali pirates.

Meanwhile, Judge Reindhardt is calling out incompetent criminal appellate lawyers (you gotta click through to the opinion), illegal aliens are suing a rancher who tried to stop them wrecking his property, and even these guys and this guy apparently got played.

Strange days, indeed.

The rancher story especially bothers me. I wonder if the intent of the suit is not so much to collect money, but by making the rancher pay to defend himself, the effect may be to deter or intimidate him from confronting trespassing illegals again?

I do not recall it being all that tough when Judge Reinhold was calling out Taggert and Lutz.

Send lawyers, guns, and money, Dad.
