POLITICS: Inconvenient Truth

Mary Katharine Ham looks at the rhetoric and reality of the Democrats' campaign to paint town hall protestors as dangerous, violent right-wingers. It's worth reading the whole thing, especially on the "right-wing terrorist" nonsense, but this stuck out:

That's the full list of documented violence from the August meetings. In more than 400 events: one slap, one shove, three punches, two signs grabbed, one self-inflicted vandalism incident by a liberal, one unsolved vandalism incident, and one serious assault. Despite the left's insistence on the essentially barbaric nature of Obamacare critics, the video, photographic, and police report evidence is fairly clear in showing that 7 of the 10 incidents were perpetrated by Obama supporters and union members on Obama critics. If you add a phoned death threat to Democrat representative Brad Miller of N.C., from an Obama-care critic, the tally is 7 of 11.

As is usually the case when the Left starts attacking ordinary citizens to score political points, it's a bit late by the time the truth laces on its boots, but it's never too late to try. (Meanwhile, the people who practically got a hernia rushing to politicize the death of George Tiller are spluttering about the meaninglessness of this).

The usual trolls will explain the meaninglessness of your comments & why your comparison is flawed.

This piece of, um, lumpenproletariat, white trash who was killed by someone apparently not a member of NARAL wasn't a caring, loving doctor you see & the union thugs are just guilty of a little irrational exuberance.

Got it?

PS I’m not transliterating; I know that “lumpen” doesn’t translate to “fat”. I was making a bi-lingual pun.

It is going to be interesting to see how the massive rally against Obumbler in DC today is deliberately misreported by the MSM.

My guess the words angry, white, reactionary and militia, anti-immigrant will be sprinkled all through the reports describing citizens who are peacefully exercising their constitutional rights.

Anybody want to take bets on this?

So the point is the corporate media is making a big deal out of a few people who have no clue about what they speak?
Also shocking is that the corporate media spend precious time on these morons rather than on the currently broken healthcare system in America.
Meanwhile some yahoo will still think the media doesn't carry water for the corporations.

No bets here, dch. Remember, they marginalized the millions who marched against the Iraq War while calling them tree-huggers.
Silly corporate media must not know the term "prescient".

yes the "broken" health care system-shortest waits to see specialists, shortest waits for surgery, best doctors, best hospitals, best research facilties, broken, highest survivabilty rates for major diseases, broken, leading the world in new technolgies, new drug treatments, new surgical procedures, broken, highest doctor/patient ratio, broken-but the people who are protesting are the "know nothings" not you.

you are as right about the 'broken" health care system as you were right about the failed Iraq surge and about all the global warming over the last 29 years.

I must have missed how the media marginalized war protestors. I do remember seeing a mental patient named Cindy Sheehan be given hundreds of hours of media coverage as she attempted to meet the president, a person who btw she had already met and spoke with.

Let's see. George Tiller was murdered by a right wing nut becuase he performed the perfectly legal abortion procedures and the supposedly "pro-life" activists whipped up the hatred and, to Crank, there is some conspiracy to "politicize the death of George Tiller."

He was a pipebombing excon militiamen, try again, just like Van Brunn, was ant attempted kidnapping
ex con Holocaust denier, there seems to be a pattern here, but not the one you want

"I must have missed how the media marginalized war protestors."

Just because it's called "paying" attention, it doesn't mean there's a fee.

Posted by: Berto at September 13, 2009 11:35 AM

I'd like to see one MSM outlet that described antiwar protestors as "tree-huggers". Just one.

Berto, I'm surprised you show your face around here after making such a fool of yourself by claiming that Justice Thomas always sides with the powerful against the powerless. You are like a cartoon of what conservatives think liberals are like. Ignorant, but determined that the world will conform to your ignorance.

Macgooder, your post doesn't make any sense. The act of think Tiller a murderer doesn't in any way imply politicization. Odumbo decrying the loss of that ghoul, that's politicization.

Are you now writing in tongues?

Posted by: Magrooder at September 14, 2009 1:58 PM

Yes, and I still make more sense than you did.

Posted by: spongeworthy at September 14, 2009 2:21 PM

Yes, I'm sure you think so. Perhaps you are one of those people who think the government is sending radio wave messages through the fillings in their teeth. You and all the other people who support the likes of Palin, Bachmann, et al.
