Take it for what it’s worth, but moments ago, during an interview on the Michael Kay Show, Jon Heyman of Newsday said that his sources have indicated that the Mets are likely sever ties with Al Leiter and have targeted Matt Clement to be his replacement.

Well, I guess if you can’t get a #1 starter, you might as well have 5 #3 SPs.
Leiter’s pretty much out already. I’d be in favor of bringing in Clement, who can actually break paper with his fastball.
Severing ties with Leiter should be a no-brainer. As for Clement, he’s a nice pitcher. Not an ace, as mentioned above, but a nice pitcher.
I wish the Reds would sign him, but they’ve set their sights on re-signing Paul Wilson.
Dare to dream….
