Is He Back?

Roberto Alomar, that is:

Roberto Alomar [was] reinstated from the voluntary retired list Thursday by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and . . . filed for free agency.
Alomar. . . who had signed a $600,000, one-year contract with Tampa Bay, filed for free agency to preserve future options rather than with the specific intent of playing next year, agent Jaime Torres said.

Hmmmmm. Via Rob McMillin.

    HUH???
Can somebody please translate agent-ese to English?

  2. Translate agent-ese? No problem: No matter what they say, it translates as:
    “Show me the money!”

  3. I thought that once a player retires, they generally stay retired. You know, find a new career, enjoy a few hobbies, travel. Isn’t that the point of retirement?
