Hate to see young guys break down. Zim looks like he could help lead the Nats back to respectability.
BACK to respectability? Did I blink and miss the respectable period? Surely you cannot be referring to the early 80’s Expos (or even the early 90’s version) one city and several owners ago.
I guess when you are as old as I am the 80’s don’t seem that long ago.
There are no scarier six words in all of sports than, “Dr. James Andrews of Birmingham, Alabama.”
I don’t know if they include the “…of Birmingham, Alabama” tag any longer, but ESPN did it for the longest time. Like they were saying, “no, they really do have doctors in the south that don’t just treat sick cows. Who knew?”
I always assumed that the Birmingham tag was because there was some cranky, petulant and jealous other Dr. James Andrews who was always getting bugged for autographs and bitched to the wire services loudly and often enough that they threw it in to shut him up.
