I’m not sure where Ken Griffey would fit in with the White Sox. Frankly, Griffey looks pretty close to done at this point. I suppose the Sox can always use insurance against an injury by Dye, Thome or Konerko.

It does seem like in order to fit Griffey into their lineup, the White Sox are going to have to do something illogical, like ask Junior to return to CF, or put Jim Thome on the field. But perhaps they have another deal in mind.
Granted, the alternative in center field is Nick Swisher (whose defensive stats are not that bad, granted) or more recently DeWayne Wise.
Obviously they were looking to acquire a LH hitter who once had power but isn’t displaying it this season & who instead seems focused on seeing how low their batting average can hover, since they only have two of those in their starting lineup (Swisher, Thome).
Apparetnly, Erik Hinske can now rest easy.
ESPN reporting Manny to the Dodgers, Red Sox get Bay, Pirates get 4 prospects.
