Howard Kurtz asks if the American people have seen too much of Obama on TV; Mickey Kaus says we still don’t know him well enough to trust him. They may both be right; as Kaus notes, Obama simply lacks the kind of track record that could reassure Americans that he means any of the things he says when he’s claiming not to be a creature of the Hard Left. If this is starting to cause him problems, well, it’s not as if we didn’t warn you.

One of the most basic rules in presidential politics-Dem/Republican/Liberal/Conservative/Moderate-does not matter -the more the public sees you the less they will like you.
I think Kaus is wrong. Obama is not an enigma. He’s precisely what his background would predict. He’s Chicago-style politics, Acorn, and Alinsky. He’s a protege of Ayers and Dohrn. He acts as we would expect of one who cited Jeremiah Wright, James Meeks, and Father Michael Pfleger as his spiritual mentors. He treats Israel as his close friendship with Khalidi would indicate.
The only mystery is how Kaus sees this as an enigma.
He’s an enigma to the general public, which for the most part doesn’t know about BHO’s radical past. Not that the info wasn’t available-people were too busy yearning for the Most Unlike Bush candidate.
