I went to the HOF last month. Pete Rose is all over the place – in the museum that is, just not downstairs in the actual Hall. There are photos of him and the (appropriate) records-boards list him and his stats. I had no idea that was the case. I mean, while his numbers can’t be denied, and aren’t, the pictures of him easily could have been. There was a conscious decision to include pictures of him there. If there is an explanation of his ban, I did not see it.
So I gotta say, seeing all that made me feel a lot less inclined to think he should be enshrined. His achievements are recognized by Baseball, which struck me as being enough.
He still belongs in the HOF.
