The further he strays from his areas of expertise, the more suspect he is. I don’t even know why he was trying to make that case. I don’t believe in any way that teacher’s unions are responsible in any way for poor “performance,” but I wouldn’t make that case based on standardized test scores of any kind.
There is one too many “in any way” in the last post.
I can tell you why he’s trying to make that case: He wants his readers to be able to tuck this issue away and forget about it. So he throws out some comforting garbage and his readership swallows it and moves on.
He wasn’t trying to fool you or me, just anybody who might have been tempted to actually think for themselves but might be easily dissuaded. I’m sure it worked, too.
