This Howard Kurtz story about the Jayson Blair fiasco contains an interesting detail about how the family of PFC Jessica Lynch coped with the media onslaught: her father kept a log of which reporters the family talked to (Blair wasn’t on it, and misdescribed the family’s home in Palestine, West Virginia).

That is interesting. The Lynchs are exactly the kind of people that the “The New York Times” and its ilk are usually very quick to portray as under-educated, backwater rubes whenever it suits them.
Seems like Mr. Lynch was actually a lot more thorough in his record-keeping than the editors of the “paper of record”.
