So I guess around 2292 they’ll get around to apologizing for the Inquisition…OTOH, the sack of Constantinople was ultimately one of the stupidest acts in the history of Western Civilization, so apologies aren’t unwarranted.
Did he really ‘apologize’ or did he express remorse? If history class memory serves those responsible were excommunicated at the time.
The Pope is making a big push for unity with the Orthodox and Anglican churches. The Anglicans are too far gone though, so the Catholics can only hope to unite the Orthodox at some point. Sounds like a reasonable response to the Islamist invasion of Europe.
