Tom Friedman, the man who really should be running mideast policy (at least he speaks English, Arabic and Hebrew), called it in his one of his earlier books, I think in The Lexus and the Olive Tree, where he spoke about his column that no two countries that have a MacDonalds are at war with each other. Of course, he also waxed poetic about Enrton as the energy company of the future….
I usually agree with Friedman’s diagnoses of problems. It’s his solutions that are problematic.
