The Abramoff bit was hysterical. One line was sort of sad though. About someone now being the lobbyist in Washington for Orange COunty. And I know New York City has one as well.
Why sad? Shouldn’t lobbyists for muncipal needs be called Members of Congress?
nice chart on Bush & gas prices. It probably explains in part why Clinton was so popular: historically low gas prices (due to Asian economies melting down.) Otherwise, if everyone loved Clinton so much, why did they not give him a Democratic Congress (even one house.)
The congress/clinton “argument” is absurd. Americans have historically preferred to split the government. How many times did the great and loved Reagan get a Republican Congress?
Reagan did have a Republican Senate from 1981 – 1987. And yes, it is true that Reagan did have to deal with a Democrat House which makes it all the more remarkable that Clinton, who was the recipient of a 40 year run of Democrats controlling the House, lost it.
Wow, what a warped view. Clinton didn’t lose Congress. And Bush isn’t losing this Congress. Neither are gas prices. The Dems lost power after 40 years because of corruption. The current Republican Congressional problems, which may lead to losing power (maybe the majority, maybe not, but definitely some seats) is because of the same problem, corruption.
