Van Taylor

If you’re interested, as I am, in keeping a Republican majority in Congress (even with the inevitable disappointments that entails), you may want to chip in to RedState’s campaign to raise funds for Van Taylor, an Iraq War vet running as a GOP challenger in a Texas district that went 70% for Bush in 2004:

More here and here.
UPDATE: The 17th District isn’t just figuratively Bush Country – it actually includes the President’s own Crawford ranch.

  1. Crank-
If you’re concerned — as I am — about spending, why would you be “interested . . . in keeping a Republican majority in Congress,” since it is this majority and the veto-allergic CIC that have allowed spending to spiral out of control?
I’m not saying you should pull the lever for Ted or Boxer or Hillary, but wouldn’t you support *any candidate*, regardless of party affiliation, who’d work to cut pork?
What’s your opinion of Texas GOP Congressman Ron Paul? Despite being opposed to nearly all government spending & taxation, his fellow Republicans despise him, and actively campaign against him.

  2. I have mixed feelings on Ron Paul – a few guys like him are a healthy thing, domestically. But his foreign policy isolationism is not a good thing at all.
Anyway, supporting conservative Republican challengers is a good thing as far as spending goes.
