It’s a small step, but Mariners fans have to be happy to see perennially injured prospect Chris Snelling playing again at AAA; all indications are that Snelling, who is pretty clearly a major league hitter and – when fully mobile – can play center field, will be up in the majors with a shot at some significant playing time in Seattle’s offense-starved lineup once he’s had some time to shake off the rust:
Snelling’s rehab stint can last up to 30 days before the Mariners have to decide what to do with him. He could join the parent club, or with a final club option he could stay in Tacoma.

Bonds starts a 3 game set against the Astros tonight. We’re pitching Bucholtz, Rodriquez and Nieve, 3 rookies. He needs one to tie 2 to break and the Crawford boxes are 315 feet away, the right field fence is 326.
Sigh.
I really didn’t want Houston to be tied to this. Maybe we’ll get lucky.

First game Giants win 10-1. No Bonds homer, he had a walk a double and a strikeout, they say the walk was not intentional – it was his first AB. They had us down 8-0 in the third inning, Buchholz struggled with his control. If you can’t throw strike one…
Buchholz and Nieve have given up 28 earned runs in their last 33 innings combined. Clemens watch: they’re saying he has started a throwing program. As I’ve said IMO the Astros can compete with Clemens, Oswalt and Pettitte as their top 3 but without Clemens they’re going to be nothing special and won’t make the post-season. I just don’t think they can do that trotting out rookie pitchers 3 out of 5 days.
At least I don’t have to sit around muttering about Bonds tying Ruth’s record in our backyard and taking antacid all day.
