Justin Verlander has yet to have a no-decision in his first 11 major league starts. I wonder who was the last pitcher to get through that many starts at the beginning of a career without a no-decision – in fact, these days, a double-figure string of starts without a no-decision is a rarity in itself.

It is an amazing stat. Kinda like Pedro’s opposite.
If I was a Tiger fan, though, I’d be concerned that Leyland’s not taking better care of him. 118 pitches last night. He’s a 23 year-old rookie.
Time to make reservations for his Tommy John surgery.
I watched him last night and he is going to be real good. He has a presence on the mound. It was a pleasure to watch him after watching the Royals all season. The young man knew what he was doing.
As for the pitch count, I think the bigger issue is when pitch counts yo-yo up and down. Most pitchers that go 100+ pitches regularly will not have a problem as long as their mechanics are good.
