  1. BTW Crank, I hadn’t known till just now (looking through your site) that you worked at the WTC. I remember frantically trying to get a hold of a friend of mine who worked near the WTC, on 9/11. He was okay but it took hours to find out. Another friend’s husband who actually worked in the WTC was on a business trip in Detroit that day.

  2. That was quite a day; not much to say that hasn’t been said already.
    Back to Reiser: the people who speak of him who saw him play speak with awed tones of him. I figure a lot of that is what might have been. Don’t know what he was like as a person when he played, but Roger Kahn spoke of him as perpetually crabby as he got older, crabby and bitter.

  3. He was one of my dad’s favorite players growing up as a Brooklyn Dodger fan. Says he was – or could have been, I guess, if he’d stayed healthy – better than Duke Snider.
    Here’s a nice article that also recounts the last rites. He was apparently carried off the field on a stretcher 11 times. I could see that making you crabby in old age.
