Boston lead singer Brad Delp’s death has been ruled a suicide by carbon monoxide posioning. Delp was 55; his body was found by his fiancee. Boston did little enough of note after its legendary first album, but that’s more than enough memories for one lifetime. Rest in Peace.

Always makes me feel terrible when someone who’s brought so much joy to so many feels such overwhelming sadness & hopelessness that he decides to take his own life. Man.

That’s a shame. I don’t know any of the backstory, but one wonders if reaching the pinnacle of your life so early, left him feeling he would never again reach those heights.
His life was defined by something he did when he was, what, 24? Everything else might have seemed futile or meaningless.
Thirty years of that might have been too much.
“Don’t Look Back” came up on the iTunes recently, and it was a pleasant surprise. Perhaps I’ll give the first album a spin today in his honor. Maybe I’ll actually even spin the wax.

Go for it. Every once in a while I still wish I had the old turntable and stylus to put into play.
I agree that the first album was the high point of the group (7 of the 8 songs on it are classics of Classic Rock radio), but Boston did have one other big success. Amanda went to #1 on the pop charts in 1986.
And it was a horrible song.
