Twelve Points

Rudy’s “Twelve Commitments.” It’s a fine list, albeit some of the items are vague (“I will impose accountability on Washington” – Rudy’s as well-suited to that job as anyone, but don’t hold your breath), and some are impossible (“I will end illegal immigration”). Of course, as always with Rudy and conservatives, the issue is with the things he left off the list. But he does show an admirably broad view of the issues that are well-suited to presidential leadership.

  1. In enjoyed seeing that there is a picture of David Blaine right next to this list. Fitting.

  2. The general principles are fine, but this is all generic Washington boilerplate. For all of his faults, the one thing that I always admired about Rudy was that he is an atypical politician willing to cut through all the bs jargon. Now he can’t even get that one thing right.
I hope to God he doesn’t get this nomination.

  3. From this list of commitments we learn a couple things about Rudy. One, he is no small government conservative. If he were to attempt to accomplish half the things on this list, the scope of the federal government would increase significantly. Two, he is no federalist. Three, he is an authoritarian, and with that credential, he just may win the Republican nomination.
