After Saturday night’s marathon – the players and the ballparks may change, but the extra-long extra-inning games go on for the Mets and Astros – yesterday was pretty much a burnt offering; there was no way to get Dave Williams out of there before the game got out of hand. 5-6 on this road trip wasn’t terrible under the circumstances, but it really should have been better – the Colorado series shouldn’t have gotten that badly out of hand. The Mets are going to need better starting pitching to get through the second half.

i would have been at that game if if wasnt for the rain in houston. yes nancy, i know theres a roof on the stadium, but i didnt have tickets yet and didnt want to stand in line in the rain or walk from where i would have had to park to the stadium without an umbrella (not allowed in the stadium).
i ended up going bowling instead and rolled a career high 167. still would rather have seen beltrans catch in person though.
Crank, remember me saying before the season started that the Royals were going to be much improved this year? I think they qualify. Also, you will remember I defended the signing of Gil Meche and statted I thought he would be one of the better free-agent signings. Here is a comparison chart from todays KC Star:
