I don’t have the time — or the inclination, frankly — to fact-check Patterico’s fact-checking, but based on what he’s laid out here, it’s pretty outrageous.
I despise Cheney, and I have little doubt he does support torture, without qualms or apprehension. But, when reporting the “news,” what some one says is what he says.
It’s a disservice to all — the truth included — to just make stuff up, or quote so far out of context as to render the original words meaningless.
One thing you (and not Patterico) got wrong – it appears this was actually an opinion column of some sort, not a news story.
