Try as I might, I just can’t bring myself to write about this weekend. Have at it, or anything baseball.

Sweet weekend for Willie Randolph: first a rousing ovation at Yankee Stadium, and then seeing the Mets stumble and bumble their way through Houston.
Maybe Jerry Manuel isn’t the saviour after all.
I’m a Tigers fan. I feel your pain.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Trust me, I’m a Red Sox fan. When you get all worked up about a series the first weekend in August, the noose around the team just gets tighter and tighter.
The series was horrible, but it’s the health status of Maine and Wagner that really worries me.
Eh. They’re not a road team. Now they come home and things will be great for awhile with the Padres series to pump them up against a weak team and give them some momentum going into the Marlins series (followed by a one-game makeup against the Pirates). Then they’re on the road against teams even the Mets should be able to beat away from Shea, the Nationals and the Pirates. Then back home against the weakened, punchless Braves followed by revenge against the Astros. That’s a 21-game stretch with no days off, which does worry me a bit where the bullpen is concerned, but I can see them going 14-7 and getting back to first place with some luck.
