The rancher story especially bothers me. I wonder if the intent of the suit is not so much to collect money, but by making the rancher pay to defend himself, the effect may be to deter or intimidate him from confronting trespassing illegals again?
I do not recall it being all that tough when Judge Reinhold was calling out Taggert and Lutz.
