Its really amazing Crank how the self appointed tolerant open minded “speakers of truth to power” are totally incapable of being honest and just acknowledging that all of their sources of information are biased. Conservatives are bombarded with lefty propoganda 24/7/365, but you know the real biased media outlet, the problematic news outlet is the one national news organization that doesn’t tow the Dem line. Are we really surprised that media outlets have a partisan preference? For the most part these outlets are owned by large corporations who are in the business of making money. As long as Obama’s popularity stays above 50% then there will be a “pro-Obama” tilt. People like Obama and they are more likely to watch the news if it has positive stories…more viewers = more advertisers = more revenue. If/when Obama’s popularity drops below 50% you will see the coverage shift to better reflect viewers preferences. Fox News is the same thing…the bulk of their viewers are conservative so they have a conservative tilt to their programming. More viewers = more revenue.
The primary purpose of the main stream media is not to inform the public (that is just a side benefit), the primary purpose is to make money. When watching mainstream media outlets I always keep this in the front of my mind…that and the fact that they are talking to their audience assuming that they have a 6th grade level of education.

His “inability to let go”?? He was *specifically asked* if he thought that media was too soft on him, it’s not like he brought it up with no instigation. How does he respond to that question and not bring up Fox News?

If you pay attention, you’ll see that I did not mention Bush. He has behaved with grace and dignity since leaving office and, as you noted, he’s gone.
Cheney, by contrast, is everywhere, trying desperately to salvage some historical legacy and avoid the hangman’s noose. When (if?) he does go, I’ll leave him alone too.

Here’s a what if scenario for those who think the MSM isn’t 100% in the tank:
A major news outlet (Wash Post, CBS, CNN, etc.) gets wind of a Watergate style operation by the Obama White House against Republicans. Do they —
A) Pursue the facts no matter where they lead?
B) Do nothing?
C) Become part of the cover-up?
Right now it’d be a toss up between B&C, but A for damn sure left town six months ago and won’t be back ’till the next GOP Administration.

Republicans live in a fantasy world. When a democrat wins, they argue that the media was in their hip pocket. When democrats lose, they argue that the people were smarter than the media which pushed for democratic victories. In any event, Fox News is garbage, as are most of the Rupert Murdoch media entities, including the New York Post, which is simply toilet paper with words and pictures. Any TV news channel that relies on a second grade intellect like Sean Hannity as its flagship commentator deserves all the criticism that it gets.
Informing the public is not a benefit to the MSM or the corporations that own them.

I really scratch my head when I see all these media bias comments because I read CNN.com all the time. So when I read CNN’s analysis of Obama’s financial overhaul, I should expect them to be gushing all over it, right?
