  1. Americans voted Bush. They new beforehand that he was all about Big Oil. His buddies from Big Oil right now are earning heavy money – while most of the stuff needed for help is down in Iraq, fighting a war for Big Oil’s interests.
American politics will continue to cause pain and suffering, hurting society and environment. You knew and you still know. Still there is no civil uprising.
So please stop whining and just keep on dying!

  2. This is one of the worst attempts at spin I’ve ever seen, Crank.
First, nothing about that account, “fair and balanced” as it is, that indicates that there wouldn’t have been an evacuation regardless.
Second, I mean, have you been reading about the administration’s lack of a meaningful response to this disaster in the early going?
Put simply, no thinking person agrees with you. This isn’t a conservative / liberal thing. There are many dead conservatives down there who could’ve been helped.

  3. It’s not a matter of “they would have done it eventually,” it’s a matter of whether that quote even indicates that Bush MADE the evacuation happen.
And in a post designed to defend the administration’s handling of this tragedy, I’d probably avoid using the term “inspire confidence.” The connotations don’t work out in the administration’s favor here.
This isn’t a Red State-Blue State tangle. Shoot, I would have loved to trade in this bunch for Bush I or Reagan. Or Nixon, to be honest. And I’m sympathetic to a number of conservative impulses, cutting the fat out of government among them. But, as people have noted recently, small government works best, works well, when it’s competent, and these guys honestly don’t have a clue.

  4. Righties who are going to try to defend the Admin on this one are going to look like total horses’ asses. Bush pretty much killed FEMA, slashed levy funding and then went and played golf and talked about WWII in the aftermath of the hurricane. The Feds received a detailed list of things that where going to be needed on the 26th of August to facilitate the evacuations and clean-up. Nothing happened.
This is the problem with some righties: They just cannot admit that these guys are EVER in the wrong. Hell, even Newt Gingrich thinks this was a pathetic effort on their part. This disaster is so huge, the ramifications will be so long felt and the change to the country will be so great that this Admin actually could really get itself in hot water if they continue to show the disdain and utter incompetence regarding this matter. This could be their Chernobyl. I hope that they pull their heads out of their collective asses and get this right because (although you righties think liberals would rather see Bush fail than a plan succeed) this is about people, dignity and what truly is American and it needs to succeed. Of course the first thing out of Bush’s mouth was about getting the oil industry up and going.
I don’t think it is too early at all to be laying some blame around and the Bush Admin better be willing to suck it up and take some of it because they deserve it.

  5. First off us righties can take blame. Bush demanded that New Orleans evacuate. The night prior to the hurricane all the bars were open and they had “drink specials” named after the hurricane. I know that first hand my mother in law was there on bourbon street. So first off if you want to blame someone start with the peope who WOULD NOT LEAVE. Ya maybe they (bush admin) could have done more but the people themselves could have done more too. Did you want him BUSH) to escort them out 1 by 1 . And why why why does it always have to be put on someone. They F***ed up they all did. This is a time to pull together not point fingers like we always do. Can we just for once stand in unity. Left, right, lib, conserv. People does it really matter. People are dying and all we can do is say he should have done this they should have done that. JUST STOP. and figure out a way to help. Make yourself useful.
