In the end, my stance on polygamy is the same as gay marriage. It’s not the business of governemtn to decide how they run their lives, and it’s not the province of government to grant married couple’s deductions based on a limited criteria.
And yes, I know the abuses of the polygamists. However, forcing girls under 18 into marriage is not an issue to me of polygamy, but statutory rape, kidnapping, and maybe a separate law stating that you can’t marry under 17 or 18 or whatever, no matter what. It IS the government’s job to protect minor children from everyone.
So Crank, I do’t see a slippery slope here. You do. And we get to discuss and disagree on it. What a great country!!!
