The best way to combat Islamophobia is for Islamic governments to step forward a lead the fight against extremism. As for the link between Islam the religon and terrorists, maybe the fact that they always seem to be linked to a mosque has something to do with that.
While I don’t agree with the premise,their perspective might be understood better in the context of western military occupations of Iraq&Afghanistan,Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians as well as it’s frequent invasions and occupations of Lebanon,Russia’s war in Chechnya,Chinese persecution of Muslims in Xinjiang province,organized anti-Muslim violence in the Indian state of Gujarat(to which authorities turned a blind eye),and of course,the US currently rattling sabers at Iran.
Come to think of it, they may have a point.

2. Lebanon. Biggest shame is that beautiful vibrant nation was so utterly destroyed in its civil war. By the way Anon, Israel had damn little to do with it. Yes, they invaded twice, and sorry they did. But they were in response to being fired upon a lot. Here in the US, we call that war. I think they do there as well.
3. Chechnya. Well, I’ll never trust Russia, and you are right about Moscow being wrong. But please don’t bring it up. Because Al Qaida, and in fact all the Muslim world doesn’t.
4. China persecutes everybody. They aren’t exactly nice to the Christians there either (I admit, I have no idea how they are to the few Jews there).
5. So how come you don’t brink up the Balkans? You know, ethnic cleansing, Kosovo. Muslims were gathered up, raped and murdered by the THOUSANDS. Where was the Muslim outrage. Well, there actually was some outrage, and it finally stopped. Ooops,. forgot, it was Clinton and the US (and no insult to W, I think he would have done the same). Guess we don’t get thanked for putting our wonderful troops at risk for that one.
6. Don’t want to forget the Sudan. It’s Arabs trying (and succeeding) to slaughter blacks, and enslaving the survivors. Reverend Al is too busy going after Imus to attack the real bad guys.
