Why, No, You Should Not Be Surprised…

…so I’m not linking to this to surprise you, if you were already quite sensibly expecting the Obama campaign and its chief strategist, David Axelrod, to peddle patently false, debunked smears directed at (who else?) Sarah Palin via purportedly independent outlets on the web that appear to have been designed to create deniability. I’m not pretending to be shocked because I’m not even slightly surprised.
Rusty has all the details, and is promising a followup with more.
Ace looks at the ensuing, immediate and wholly predictable coverup, and why it confirms Axelrod’s involvement, here and here. (H/T).
Why bother linking, then? Well, it never hurts to document these things. And to remind everyone who always claimed to be against such things but now support the Obama campaign…well, this is what they do; it’s who they are. This is Obama’s “new politics,” and really always was.

  1. People keep saying he is something different, but as I’ve been saying for months he is a JAP (Just Another Politician). He fooled the easily fooled that’s all.

  2. and why it confirms Axelrod’s involvement

Yea… except for the fact that there is NO confirmation that Axelrod was involved in the making of the video, whatsoever.
    And you know it.
Of course, I am not “even slightly surprised” that you would make such assertions even though there is no evidence behind it.

  3. No matter if true or not, why the sudden outrage that someone who is not a Republican actually wants to win, so steals the playbook?
Besides, remember Edward Larson’s great line about the founding fathers, “They could write like angels and scheme like demons.” About the Adams/Jefferson campaign. Wonderful book, makes Karl Rove and Lee Atwater to seem like amateurs.

  4. dave – Did you follow all the way through? Rusty lays out a very compelling case based on the evidence that this is a professional job by people tied to Axelrod, and as Ace notes, the obvious logical implication of the mad scramble to get it down confirms his involvement as closely as you will ever get with a product like this.

  5. Daryl – I just want us all on the same page that there is nothing even modestly “new politics” about Obama and his operations. I don’t think you and I disagree about that.

  6. Crank, I don’t think there has been anything new to politics since Hammurabi started running the show.

  7. dave – Did you follow all the way through?

I read all three posts, and saw nothing other than circumstantial evidence of possible connections.

Rusty lays out a very compelling case based on the evidence

You are convinced easily, when you want to be.
